Our Story

Hi, we're the Kocher's. Tim retired from the transportation industry in January of 2016 after 35 years of service and now pursues his passion as a professional photographer. And Pam, a retired nurse manager of over 25 years. We decided to sell everything and pursue our dream of traveling. Our traveling consists of living on a boat on the St. Lawrence River in the Thousand Islands during the summer and scouring the nation in our motor home during the winter. Yup you're right, IT DOESN'T SUCK!

What's Up With The Name "Another Crappy Day"

This is sarcasm at it's greatest. It's like calling a fat guy "slim" or Eric Clapton "slowhand." It just means the exact opposite. I have been known to say "it's just another crappy day on the island" as we enjoy the beauty and serenity of the many island parks on the St. Lawrence River in northern New York State. It's anything but crappy!

Another Crappy Day?

Spring 2023

When we leave Nevada at the end of April, we will be going to Sedona, AZ staying in a cottage for a week. We will then travel the iconic old Rt. 66 to Chicago checking out all the old attractions from days gone by, some in ruins, some restored, some still in operation, but all really cool! We will be dissecting this route documenting it in pictures and text. Who knows we might even write a book, stay tuned. Then on home to Alexandria Bay, NY to begin our time on the water living on our boat.

Phase 2

Operation Nomad Phase 2

Almost to the very day, 7 years ago we bought our first motor home in Tampa Bay to begin project Nomad Phase 1. So today is bittersweet as we say goodbye to our motor coach. But this has been our plan since day 1.

We were to travel all over the country from October to May seeing attractions and natural wonders that we had only dreamed about and boy did we! Making stops along the way to see family and friends, with longer stays in Nevada to visit our 2 kids and their families, yes lots of granddaughters! During the summer we would go back to the 1000 Islands in New York to live on our boat, where we would be close to our other daughter and granddaughter.

After traveling coast to coast 8 times in 7 years, the time has come to get something bigger, homier and a little more permanent in Nevada for the winter. We will be enjoying the roominess of our new park model trailer here at the Wine Ridge RV Resort in Pahrump, NV.

This doesn’t mean in any way that we are done traveling. There is still a lot to see out there and we intend to get to it! There have been several places along our routes that we would have liked to have seen or explore that we just couldn’t with a 40’ motor coach hauling a Jeep, keep in mind you can’t back up when attached. That now won’t be a problem!

So what’s the plan for the remainder of 2023?

When we leave Nevada at the end of April, we will be going to Sedona, AZ staying in a cottage for a week. We will then travel the iconic old Rt. 66 to Chicago checking out all the old attractions from days gone by, some in ruins, some restored, some still in operation, but all really cool! We will be dissecting this route documenting it in pictures and text. Who knows we might even write a book, stay tuned.

Once home for the summer we will be traveling the Trent-Severn canal in Canada on our boat, stay at the many Canadian and New York State Island parks and do day trips to other attractions near by. As summer winds down we plan on visiting friends in Ireland in the middle of September. We will then travel back west finding more places to visit along the way with a weeks stop in Lake Tahoe. Then on to our winter home in Pahrump.

Life is short make the best of it while you can. And remember, “Not All Who Wander Are Lost”!
