A YEAR IN RETIREMENT

Webster’s definition of retirement is

A:  an act of retiring:  the state of being retired
B:  withdrawal from one's position or occupation or from active working life
C:  a place of seclusion or privacy
D:  withdraw to or from a particular place, go away, take one off, decamp, shut one off

We have withdrawn from an active life of employment, but most definitely have not withdrawn from life or secluded ourselves to one place.

My definition of retirement is adventure, new journeys, new friends and living life to the fullest with no boundaries.

It has been one year since we started our new adventure and we see every day as a blessing.   We are living this journey to its fullest and enjoy sharing our adventures with all of you.

Oh the roads we have traveled the experiences we have shared and the incredible sites we have seen!

Take a look at the video on our website or Facebook page for a little taste of our first year!

During our first year I have had many friends ask me “How is it? “, What’s it like?”  I always say it’s the best and it is!

However, one evening while having a glass a wine or two with a couple of girlfriends that were sitting across from me at the picnic table, they both leaned over the table and asked me “Ok, really, how is it?”.  I would love to say it has been without incident.   We have had our issues, as I hear most newly retired couples do.  So my response was, “He thinks I’m his employee”.  My friend reminded me that when you have been in charge most of your career as Tim and I have been it is hard to let that go and you continue to project that into your current life.  I can admit now that I too have been a little “bossy”.

We have had discussions about how to park the car, where to park the car, where things are going to be kept on the boat and various other ridiculous subjects.  It’s like the honeymoon phase in reverse.    I think it is safe to say that we have learned a lot about each other this past year and have powered through to this wonderful life we call retirement.

We have seen and experienced so much in a year and I can’t wait to share the details with all of you, from places that are a must see, recipes that are easy to prepare and delicious or visiting with friends and family.

Stay tuned there’s more to come.
